Absolutely 80's - The Ultimate Party Band
Direct from the sell-out Countdown Spectacular, the 'Absolutely 80's' tour will continue performing all the hits of the 80's at our club. This show features some of the performers from Uncanny Xmen, Kids in the Kitchen, Chantoozies, Machinations and an all star 80's five piece band.
The Uncanny X -Men were one of Australia's most popular & outrageous bands of the 80s, featuring the extroverted front man Brian Mannix. Total sales of over a half a million, with hits including the Number 1 smash hit "50 Years" and Top 10 hits "The Party" , "Everybody Wants To Work" and "How Do You Get Your Kicks", as well as a Double Platinum selling album "Cos Life Hurts".
With a massive following, filling the Horden Pavilion (Sydney) & Festival Hall (Melbourne) Uncanny X -Men were one of biggest bands in the 80s.
Kids in the Kitchen, the 80s "new wave" band that formed in 1984, quickly raced to the top of the charts with their Platinum selling debut album "Shine". Yielding 10 top ten singles including "Change in Mood", "Bitter Desire" , "Current Stand", "Something That U Said" and more .
Kids in the Kitchen quickly become a house hold name, and sign an international deal with Madonna's management and a USA record contract with Warner Brothers/Sire Records . The second LP "Terrain" was released in 1986 and contained two Top 20 hits "Say It" and "Revolution Love", which saw the Kids touring the world before returning to Australia to break venue capacity records!
The Chantoozies were one of Australia's hottest bands , an 8 piece band consisting of 4 boys & 4 girls releasing over 5 top charting singles & 2 albums. Songs included the Top 10 national hits "Witch Queen", "Wanna Be Up"and "He's Gonna Step On U Again".
They toured Australia many times, appearing on every imaginable entertainment program - the Chantoozies sold over 300,000 records.
Sydney's Machinations were one of Australia's hottest dance bands. Their debut single "Pressure Sway" reached number 2 on the national ARIA charts. Their debut album "Esteem" went Gold and they released over 7 top charting singles & 4 albums. Songs included the Top 10 national hits "No Say In It" and "Do To You".
The Machinations toured Australia many times, appearing on every imaginable entertainment program and sold over 200,000 records in Australia. Machinations also had a USA Number 1 dance hit with "Pressure Sway", a song which was also used on the USA soundtrack for the classic comedy "Ruthless People". In all over six Top 20 hits nationally!
